About Myself!

Hi readers!
Since this is the first post, let me tell you something about myself!
Well, where should I begin? Should I tell you my name, where I am from, what I do and other such stuff? But you could as well read those details when you read my profile. So there is no point in telling you all that. I have a better idea. Why not tell you some of my opinions. You will know me better then! The topic is "About Myself". Myself! Two words - My and self. Self is the consciousness present in the entire universe. It is in you and me, in all the animate and the inanimate objects, in all the different planets and stars and in all the heavens. It is as ubiquitous as air. And just like air, we can only feel it! So my self is the self present inside me! The self that is unique to me. It is like the balloon that is filled with air. As long as the balloon is not punctured, we can distinguish the air inside and the air outside, but when we prick it with a pin, the distinction disappears. Similarly, as long as the person is not self realised, he distinguishes the self as myself and yourself! Interesting isn't it? So what are the qualities of this self? It is the source of unending happiness or bliss or Ananda; it is the source of unending strength, the source of unending knowledge and the source of all sources. If that is the case, then we should be always happy, always powerful, always full of knowledge and always content. But there lies a hitch. This self that we think as our very own is very particular. Unless we give it the confidence that we really deserve all those great qualities, it just ignores us. Rather, it is we who ignore the self. We are more inclined to material pursuits, we are more interested in what others think about us, more interested in the gossip going on around us in the world and so have no time to spend with our selves.
Let us first feel our self. Let us try to understand it even if it is only a little. Let us try to respect it! I am sure that if we make our self trust us, we can become wonderful human beings. It does take effort - a huge one rather. But even an ocean is made up of tiny drops! Why not give it a try?
